GAPPS, an initiative of Seattle Children’s
Seattle Children’s recognized prematurity and stillbirth as research priorities needing local and global attention. Washington state’s preterm birth rate has increased by about a third in the last decade. Many newborns and other patients at Seattle Children’s suffer serious health problems from preterm birth. Stillbirths are another adverse pregnancy outcome that devastate 25,000 U.S. families each year. GAPPS was founded in 2007 as an initiative of Seattle Children’s.
