Research Capacity Building

“GAPPS is gathering the evidence needed to revolutionize how the world cares for mothers and newborns. Using systems biology, GAPPS is accelerating solutions to prematurity and stillbirths.”

GAPPS is closing the knowledge and solution gaps globally to address prematurity and stillbirth in countries with the highest burdens. This information will be used to find causes and solutions for preterm birth, stillbirth and related health outcomes. Our Research Network includes universities, hospitals, and clinics around the world.

GAPPS is improving the architecture of research in maternal and newborn health globally. In collaboration with global partners, we are accelerating discovery science and cost-effective solutions. GAPPS is building a repository of data and specimens from pregnant women, such as blood and tissues, which will serve as a significant resource in advancing global health innovations.

We Are Building Research Capacity in Low- and Middle-Income Countries

To understand prematurity and stillbirth, researchers need to have high quality data and information from pregnant women and newborns from those parts of the world that have the highest incidence of prematurity and stillbirth. This will require significant investments in health-research infrastructure and capacity in low- and middle- income countries with high rates of prematurity and stillbirth.
